Dr. Carolyn Dragon knew she wanted to be a dentist since she was 13 years old. The daughter of an accountant and a toxicologist, dentistry is not exactly in Carolyn’s blood (apart from twice-yearly dental check-ups and a few cavities she would rather not mention); however, teeth have become her passion. Specifically, the straightening of teeth and the creation of a beautifully and functionally balanced smile. Such a thing is truly a work of art and can be totally life-changing!
Carolyn is a native of Central New York and is a graduate of Canastota High School. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Cornell University where she received her bachelor of science in biology, with a focus on Genetics and Development. Following her time in Ithaca, NY, Dr. Dragon branched out to the Nutmeg State to complete her 4 years of dental school, graduating in 2017 with her D.M.D. from the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine. During dental school, Carolyn was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society, which recognizes both scholarship and character.  Carolyn then headed southward to obtain both her Certificate in Orthodontics and a Master of Dental Science degree from one of the top orthodontic programs in the country, at Virginia Commonwealth University.  Carolyn has been twice published in a respected orthodontic journal and has presented her research both nationally and internationally. Carolyn was thrilled to connect with Dr. Konys, finding in him someone with such compatible treatment and practice philosophies, and she loves being back home in the great state of New York!
Personally, Carolyn enjoys spending time with her husband, Tom, whom she met at Cornell where they both worked as student employees at the campus fitness centers. Their enthusiasm for fitness thrives to this day, with their favorite hobbies including running, walking, spinning, weightlifting, cross-country skiing (the boring kind…not the hilly kind), and — most recently — ping pong. Carolyn’s passion for teeth is rivaled only by her passion for baking, and when she’s not straightening teeth or taking in the great outdoors with Tom, she can almost certainly be found happily stationed in her kitchen experimenting with cookie recipes!
