Dr. Chmil grew up in the small town on the south shore of Lake Ontario called Williamson, NY. She attended SUNY Oswego for her undergraduate studies and received a Bachelor’s degree in Biology. She then obtained her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine in 2016. Like Dr. Vitkus, she graduated at the top of her class and was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honor Society. After dental school, Dr. Chmil completed a year long General Practice Residency in Dentistry at SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY. In 2017, Dr. Chmil moved to Chicago to attend the University of Illinois at Chicago for her orthodontic residency. She received a Certificate in Orthodontics and a Master’s degree in Oral Sciences while attending the university.
Dr. Chmil moved back to New York in 2020 and has been practicing orthodontics in the Utica area since then. Additionally, she volunteers her time to teach orthodontics to the dental residents at SUNY Upstate Medical University. Dr. Vitkus and Dr. Chmil went to dental school together and have stayed in touch ever since. With ties to our area and the desire to be back closer to her family, Dr. Chmil is thrilled to be back practicing with the Sirius Orthodontics Team!
Dr. Chmil’s personal orthodontic experience as a teenager solidified her passion for dentistry. Her confidence grew dramatically as her smile straightened. From that moment on, she knew that she wanted to help others’ gain confidence in their smiles. Dr. Chmil and her now husband Dan recently got married in Penn Yan, NY. They have two beautiful cats, Lily and Theo and hope to grow their family in the future. Dr. Chmil loves gardening, nature walks, fishing and spending time with loved ones.
